2005 Team That Makes a Difference

The 2005 "Teams that Make a Difference" award winner is "The Motivators" team of Richland Middle School. This group exemplified team spirit and determination. At the start of the school year, Jackye Shepherd, Candice Moore, and Sara Davis met to review the records and files of their new class and discussed what can be done differently this year compared to previous years to help these students. The team came to a consensus that the students need more guidance in character development and assuming responsibility. Each member shared their expertise and assisted each other in executing the plan. The team of teachers encouraged the students to execute many community service projects. The team became innovative in their teaching strategies. Students were given opportunities to show how mastery had been acquired using a variety of methods. The team promoted parental involvement strongly. Parents were urged to shadow their children through the school day and would receive daily correspondence via students journal and some phone calls. The Motivators are truly living up to their group name.
